Blast Robotics Team 10989

Our Journey

From rookie idea to Rising All-Star

In less than a year, Team 10989 went from a registration form to an award-winning FIRST Robotics Competition team — without losing sight of the community mission that started it all.

  1. May 2025

    Team 10989 is born

A group of Berwyn, PA parents, mentors, and students recognized the need for a community-based FRC team and filed our official FIRST registration.

  2. May–June 2025

    Building the foundation

We secured a permanent workshop at Eadeh Enterprises at no cost, onboarded 3 adult mentors, launched @10989blast on Instagram, and recruited 40+ interested students. FRC Team 1168 Malvern Robotics became an early ally, and Comcast committed as our first major sponsor.

  3. July 2025

    DoD STEM Grant secured

A Department of Defense STEM grant covered our competition registration fees, giving the team financial breathing room in its first season.

  4. August 2025

    Inaugural Blast Camp

We ran our first 5-day summer camp, serving 20 students and generating 300+ volunteer service hours — proof that our mission extended beyond competition.

  5. October 2025

Gardener Award at Ramp Riot XXV

At the Ramp Riot XXV off-season event, we won the Gardener Award for cultivating new STEM opportunities in our community.

  6. December 2025

    Temple University robotics bootcamp

Team mentors and students attended Temple University's robotics bootcamp to sharpen technical and coaching skills ahead of the 2026 season.

  7. March 2026

    Rookie All-Star Award

At the Centennial District Event, Team 10989 won the Rookie All-Star Award, recognized for outstanding community engagement and documentation.

  8. April 2026

    Rising All-Star Award

In our second competition of the season, we won the Rising All-Star Award at the Philadelphia District Event — a signal of rapid growth from rookie to contender.

  9. Ongoing

    Global STEM outreach

Beyond Pennsylvania, our members ran robotics, electronics, and STEM workshops at two rural girls’ middle schools in Hyderabad, India — proof our mission travels.
